Sydney Hirsch (born 1993) is an American artist and writer.
Early life
Sydney Hirsch [1] was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1993. She has one younger brother. [2] She graduated from Wylie E. Groves High School in 2011 and went on to attend The Pratt Institute and eventually transferred to the University of Michigan, graduating in 2015 with a B.A. in Screen Arts and Cultures, a major that incorporates elements of filmmaking, screenwriting, and theory.[3][4][5] Growing up, she describes herself as “wannabe skater-boy adjacent with too much screentime.”[6]
Career
Hirsch moved to Brooklyn, New York in 2015 and supported herself with an ungodly mix of jobs before settling into motion graphics work, creating commercial spots for brands like Popeyes, Covergirl, and Macy’s. [7] She also took various modeling, illustration, and acting gigs, including a starring role in the indie feature Bring on the Damned!, and wrote about interior-design trends for Architectural Digest.[8][9] She gained a following on her X (formerly Twitter) account posting jokes and passing thoughts and sharing her Y2K-style dollmaker.[10] In 2025, she completed her first novel, The Ingenue. She is seeking literary and talent representation, preferably from someone who agrees that Jeff Goldblum is a babe.
Personal life
Hirsch has a black cat named Buzz, who she considers her “muse”.[11] Her favorite things are TV shows (30 Rock, Tim & Eric, anything narrated by Bill Kurtis), mid-century modern houses, emo boys, pop culture, retro kitsch, Elliott Smith, Angelfire, documentaries, drag queens, psychedelia, and true scary stories.
